I was just a "runner up" in the third round of my transformer AND the Shaun T kickstarter which is a bit of a bummer. But I started carb cycling two weeks ago and have lost a bit so I've decided to go with my second Chris & Heidi Powell kickstarter, after taking a short break from dieting over the weekend (Mothers' Day).

The last 16 days or so I've been doing the turbo cycle, which is two days low carb to every one day higher carb (not really "high carb", just higher than low carb days) with a treat day once a week - I don't like the term cheat day because I am not cheating on my diet, I'm following the rules! So I say treat day instead. Anyway, I was struggling a bit on the second low carb day in a row and that was when I was tending to break out and eat what I shouldn't. Also my treat day was blowing out to an all day binge, which is not the idea (maybe I was cheating after all!).

So I am switching to the classic cycle as described in Chris Powell's 'Choose to Lose' book. That means alternating low carb days with higher carb days, which hopefully with solve my difficulty with two low carb days in a row. And I am also going to switch to the option of having a treat meal each high carb day instead of one treat day a week. That way I won't be anticipating a huge binge day all week, and feeling like I have to eat ALL THE THINGS because I won't be allowed for another whole week. I'll just have a small amount every second day. I don't know yet whether this will be easier to stick to, but I won't know unless I try it! I can always swap back to one day a week and just work harder on eating a reasonable amount on that day, if the more frequent treats don't work out.

I have downloaded Chris and Heidi's app for my phone, they have a short motivating video every day, but it is only tuned to turbo cycle so my eating won't be in sync with it. Still, I'll give it a go.

A problem I have at the moment is a recurrance of a shoulder injury which is restricting my exercise (and my life!). I see a physiotherapist on Monday, and then I will find out what I can and can't do. In the meantime - walking!

See you Monday.
