I've been doing DietBet for over a year now and was losing weight slowly but progressively until this month.

Here are my challenges:

  • I don't eat a ton of veggies mostly due to lack of access to them where I live.  And our meals tend to focus around game and potatoes.
  • I travel a ton and will be on the road for the next 4.5 weeks with 2-3 nights at home over most of the weekends.  This doesn't allow for much prep time or desire to cook in addition to the challenge of eating and exercising while traveling.
  • There is a middle school gym that they allow community members to "join" but the hours are not conducive to me having a job and being fit.
  • My boyfriend is not supportive, possilby bc he is overweight and my efforts make him uncomfortable but he is very resistant to healthy living.
  • I work 10-12 hours, 5 days a week and sometimes have to work on weekends.

And the things I'm doing to combat those challenges:

  • Use frozen veggies as much as I can tolerate and have at least one veggie serving at each meal.
  • Try to stick with a schedule while traveling. Take advantage of having a gym even though most hotel gyms are lacking. And try very hard to take advantage of salad options at resturants. If I have a car while traveling I'll go to a grocery and buy yogurts and other snacks to have with me to help avoid the often provided chips/cookies/donuts.
  • Bought a treadmill and wake up with the intent of running a mile 6 days a week in all of 2017 (sometimes more as I'm also trying to do C25K). And I have started doing the 21DF videos again. I find that I can't do them every day as that stretches my time too thin, but I try for 5-6 days a week.
  • I make as healthy food as possible and swap out healthier options on my plate which sometimes he eats.
  • I am trying to come in later in the morning (8 instead of 7) to cut back on my hours, but the work isn't getting done. I'm pushing back on a few projects that have been adding a ton of stress but it's still not enough.

So what about my initial statement.  Despite all of this I have lost one pound so far during my current challenges, most of which started right before the new year.  I'm used to slightly faster dropping so i fear I have hit my weight wall and won't be able to lose enough to win the four I'm in this month.  I still have plenty to lost so I need new strategies that are realistic in my busy life.
