I have been doing better at working out in the morning but it is hard when your significant other is still snuggled in bed. I don't want to leave the warmth of my bed and I don't want to wake him by working out in the living room (I'm not confident enough for the gym yet). So here is what I do for the days when my boo is a bum!
NIGHT BEFORE:
1) Write down what I will have for breakfast before and after my workout. I'm never quite awake to make healthy choices. ALSO I write down my workout! I know what to expect and you don't waste time searching for that perfect YouTube class.
2) Set out my workout clothes and gear, in the living room or whatever room you will workout in. This way I'm not searching blindly in the dark for my sneakers! Maybe even que up that DVD or youtube video. ;)
3) Wash my face. I know this may seem strange but when I wake up with a clean face I feel better.
4) Set my alarm and go to bed ON TIME!!
MORNING:
1) The minute the alarm goes off, I jump out of bed and exit the bedroom! Then I immediatly slow down again. haha I do this so that I don't wake up my boo multiple times by hitting snooze.
Don't poke the bear.
2) Fixed myself a small Pre-Workout snack. This morning I had multigrain toast and a small glass of milk. This was all 30 mins before my workout. No one wants to do sprints with milk sloshing around in their belly.
3) I get dressed for success and lightly stretch while I do this.
4) WORKOUT!! And do a really good cool-down and stretch routine!
5) I make myself a cup of tea and jump in the shower.
6) By the time I'm done with both tasks in number 5 I'm ready for a healthy breakfast full of protein. This morning I had yogurt and a protein bar.
I won't lie. I still don't feel that "awww good morning everyone! what a beauuuuutiful day!" feeling when I workout in the morning, but I can honestly say I feel more relaxed knowing I can get stuff done after work because I don't have to workout. And I don't have to leave work early to squeeze it in (like yesterday). So I'm eliminating stress. I guess that's something.
