This thought has been floating in my head for a while and I feel the need to get it out.

 

Are you a morning person? No? neither am I!  I really would love to stay in bed until almost lunch time and then get busy. I seem to do so much better in the afternoon and evening than in the morning. I have been trying and trying to be a morning person but I have come to the conclusion that I will not be a morning person. I can, however, ease into my morning which makes my day better.

 

I have started to wake with a different mind set and it has improved things greatly. I dont just jump up out of bed and get moving. I will lay there for a few minutes and listen to the sounds of the morning. The birds waking up and singing, breeze blowing gently (some mornings) or maybe I will just lay there and listen to my breathing as it increases and changes from sleep mode to awake. I have become aware of the changes and by being focused on them I can move into my day better.

 

I have also started to wake earlier. Now I know some people are probably going "uuuugh" but it is something that I have just naturally started to do. A friend has mentioned going for a walk first thing in the morning. I think this is a great idea and hope to start to incorporate that into my morning. I am not sure if it will happen but I am going to put the effort in. I have noticed that the last little while it seems easier to blow off my walk in the evening. I am not happy with myself about that but I know that I can also change that myself.

 

So I offer up a challenge for eveyone. Get up 10 min earlier each morning for the rest of the week. Not adding 10 min each day, just 10 min earlier than you would normally. so if you get up at 7:30, get up at 7:20. if you get up at 6:00, get up at 5:50. I am sure you get the idea. Of course for those that already get up at OMGEEEEEE its early, I challenge you to take 10 min to just enjoy your surroundings. Enjoy that cup of coffee you have in front of you, notice the smell, how it tastes, is it hot? sweet? creamy? Maybe it isnt a cup of coffee, it could be tea or maybe it is a bowl of oatmeal. what ever your 10 min includes, notice it. be in the moment and focused.
