Holy Cats! Just in from sweating in the garden and wanted to write a post while cooling down.

I think it is worthwhile to take the time to talk about how hard we try to meet weigh-outs and stay within the DietBet rules! Today I am using multiple strategies, in what is most likely a non-winning weighout! BUT it is keeping me working hard on meeting my health goals, and that is SO good!

I was going to weigh out this morning, admitting defeat, but then I did the numbers, facing a HUGE loss that is HIGHLY LIKELY to NOT happen – I think it was about 4 pounds. BUT, because my coach, Melissa Anne—E, suggested I keep more track of things numerically, I went back over my scale records (I chart every morning) and found many incidences over the past 2 years where I lost about 5 pounds in one day, due to fasting or the day after a vacation laden with salty restaurant foods, which I normally don’t eat. Well, it just so happens that yesterday I ate some wonderful, healthy, but HIGHLY salted salmon. Twice. My rings went from falling off to being tight. Hmmm.

So……. Here I am. Sweating so hard that it filled my sweatband, dripped down my face, and got in my eyes. Sweatband is washed, hanging on the faucet waiting for the next round of kamikaze gardening! I am working in areas that have been neglected all summer, so LOTS of HUGE material removal. So you could say DietBet is good for my gardens, too! Even THEY are losing weight!

I made my dandelion tea, and my daughter-in-law just brought in some chocolate mint leaves for me, which is about the closest I’ll be getting to chocolate today! Lime water, regular water, work, work, work. Lime water, regular water, work, work, work. I could make it into a little song…

Another take-away from this day, is that as the sweat was dripping down, I thought, ‘Why do I count this as a positive thing when I’m sweating out in the garden, but NOT when I do ‘fake’ exercise?’ So I learned a little bit of thinking that I need to deal with. I am 60. REAL work doesn’t faze me, but I really do NOT like to sweat from exercise for exercise sake. I think it’s a leftover from sexism in my youth that is not yet rooted out in my thinking.

Well, I have to admit I am cooled down now, and there are 4 lovely grandchildren outside to garden with, so out I go! I plan to work till I’m too hot, then find a garden that’s shady! You all have a good day, and for win or for lose, I am still in this DietBet. Until it closes tomorrow night if I have to, which will mean packing my scale because I’m heading out on a short trip! You all have a GREAT DietBet Day!!!
