I've Made a Huge Mistake

Amy, I could have written a lot of this post! Most of it, about sleep and the cardio/cortisol relationship - I'm an insomniac and the number of doctors that I've seen that have told me that sleep doesn't affect weight loss is disgusting. I don't sleep well and probably never will - but on the weeks when I average less than 3 hours a night my weight goes up. If I get more than 4 hours a night then my weight goes down. I mean, really - sleep regulates and regenerates our bodies and has a huge impact on hormones, so of course it impacts weight loss!I'm glad that you've found the combination of things that makes for successful weight loss, and that you are back on the road to happy!

Jocey! I sooooo hear you on the sleep factor. What's more annoying than people saying: "Just go get a good night's sleep," (like it's so easy!) when you have insomnia and/or kids that aren't sleeping and/or a spouse that snores? Not much! Except for maybe doctors who say sleep doesn't contribute to your all-around health. That's part of the reason why I love my current doctor - she recognizes that everything is relative. I didn't mention, but I also started doing short meditations in the am/pm. That's helped with sleep too to try to calm my brain. Here's to finding a way to a good night's sleep at some point!
