This summer my long-time partner and I decided to get married next year. The whole event is going to be small, rather non-traditional, family-centered and feminist. There will be no bachelor parties, white dresses or bouquet tosses. And so it is with mixed feelings that I embark on a pre-wedding weight loss regime.

Here's the real deal: We've both been making strides to be healthier for some time now. He's been working with an awesome personal trainer for over a year, we religously go to the gym twice a week, we drink a bit less than when we were younger and add veggies to most dishes.

So with that foundation in place, I feel I'm ready to commit to improving my diet, and I want to see the physical gains (or losses!) that go along with that side of the diet and exercise coin.

I don't want to do anything crazy -- no crash diets here -- just one Kickstarter followed by one Transformer so that I'll be about 25 lbs smaller 10 months from now. We're getting married at a "cabin" on Lake Tahoe that has both a pool (pictured) and a hot tub. I want to look and feel great. That's how I want to start my married life and remember a weekend surrounded by new family. And nice pics from the event will be a bonus for years to come.
