Yeah, your friend is asking for encouragement for doing something that doesn't compare to the work you've done. I'd be bitter too! But you are recognizing it and processing it and that's going to make your journey more meaningful. And hey, a small shopping compulsion is a fun hobby. I also highly recommend consignment stores :)
