I feel like a nervous puppy (hence the pic). My weight is up after some luscious indulgences over the holidays and I'm reading over all the hopeful newbie blogs and it makes my stomach flip. I know that stats--that most of these hopefuls will not successfully lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off. What can I do to increase my odds?

I'm not new. I did a DietBet...but didn't win. I did lose a little weight (~5lbs) and kept it off for a few months, which was a nice reminder that it's possible and that weight gain is not automatic. But still, the whole "New Year's Resolution" thing. Ugh.

Here are some AMAZING things that I have going for me that will help:

  1. Help. My fiancé is interested in losing too! This is HUGE for us. It will make this a team effort instead of fighting a solo battle.
  2. A Deadline. A wedding is happening on September 17 no matter what size I am, so I'd better put my best food forward!
  3. Time. Time is on my side. I have 263 days until the wedding. No crash diets necessary. Just healthy living 6 days a week and earned breaks to reset the metabolism and I'm golden.

This is not rocket science. It is not a feat of super human strength or crazy equipment or celebrity backing. Losing weight through diet and exercise is something that I can do right now, where I am with what I have. And that makes me feel less nervous.

Today's Goal

Even though I splurged at lunch on pizza, I can still stay under my calorie goals by eating a smaller portion at dinner. That and my boot camp workout tonight and I'm right back on track.
