I've been staying away from DietBet for the past few days because, frankly, all the New Year's Resolution folks were giving me the heebie-jeebies. I've always been a long-term planner, someone who goes to the gym in December, not just January, etc. and watching all the resolutions made me feel...well...vulnerable. Like, our stories are so similiar. Our struggles are so similar. Even if I think of myself as the tortoise (and NY resolutioners are the hares) -- is that a fair analogy if I don't succeed? (*Fear of Failure Alert*)
But I'm feeling more confident (and the scale FINALLY dropped after the holidays), so I'm back and want to say congratulations to those who are new and welcome. I hope you find encouragement for your journey here and hope to see many of you celebrating at the finish line.
As for my own journey, I did the math from the past month and found that on *average* I have a net deficit of about 370 calories per day (not including extra workouts). This was really encouraging. It means that even if I'm not perfect (and I absolutely was not perfect over the holidays) I'll still likely be 20+ pounds down by the end of next summer. Yay! It feels really really doable.
Today's Goal
After all the fuss and treats of the holidays, we New Orleanians have a short break before Mardi Gras gets into full swing. It's my week to do the shopping and so I have some healthy meals spread out over the week (trout, anyone?). So this should be a great week to just coast and lose. :) Today, specifically, I'd like to just stay under my calorie goal.
