A Change for the Better

I've lost a little more than 25 lbs and can't really keep my weight loss under the radar anymore. I get questions about what I'm doing, passive aggressive comments about how I need to stop making them look bad, and congratulatory praises. Even the congratulatory comments are making me feel self-conscious and stressed that I won't be able to maintain the weight loss. I'm still the same person I've always been, but how do I deal with being treated differently??

First off congratulations Lilly! That is amazing that you have been able to lose 25 pounds! I definitely understand where you are coming from. There will always be people who either comment positively or negatively about what you're doing with your life. I think that the biggest thing to keep in mind is that you are doing this for YOU! If people are judging you or making passive aggressive comments toward you losing weight then just ignore them. I know for me when this happened I had one friend that I ended up cutting out of my life because she was a very negative person and always put me down. This is an extreme case and I'm not saying you should do this with your friends but for me, it increased the happiness in my life. I know sometimes I feel awkward when people comment on my weight loss and are so positive about it. I too sometimes struggle with if I mess up and go out to eat I will be afraid that people I know will see me and judge me because I am trying to lose weight. What I have been doing when I started feeling people treating me differently is trying to lead by example and teach people that you can lose weight, but also live a normal life that is full of balance. I hope I answered your questions and helped you. If you would like to chat more you can email me at coachlaurendeeter@gmail.com or add me on facebook at Lauren Deeter. :)
