So my last mini-goal was to actually eat under my goal calories each day this week. And I have for two days in a row. But it hasn't been easy. It's also not been particularly hard. I'm definitely not starving myself, but also I can't just eat dinner and count after. I have to count before and actually ration (Self talk: Well, if you're really hungry you can have a second bowl of soup, but not more biscuits, that would put you over...that sort of thing).

So it's not really fun but it's not really hard, it just takes some effort and some discipline each day. And that, my friends, is being what being in the middle of weight loss feels like. I'm on Day 40 calorie tracking / decreasing my calorie intake and so far I'm very proud that I've been this consistant. I've seen genuine progress, albeit small in terms of pounds. I'd like to "turn it up a notch" because at this rate I will not be where I'd like in September, but I know that consistantly small gains is way more important for me than big gains in the short term. I've done the math and even at my current pace I will be down significantly by the wedding festivities, but I'd like to do a bit more. The key is balance: not overdoing it and then getting burnt out. I saw this that someone posted the other day and it really rings true for me - strive for excellence, not perfection
