what is it that I want to build in the next six months? This question has been coming up in my professional life, my personal life, spiritually, artistically, and in my physical health. The larger question of what I want to create the next few years also looms large for me, but for now, let's just ask the question of what I'd like to accomplish or carveout for myself in the next six months during this competition.

I already have the goals of being able to do 20 full military push-ups, to hold a handstand for 10 seconds unassisted, to do an unassisted pull-up, to do the splits all three ways, and of course to lose inches and pounds (I won't say the specific amounts). In order to do all these things, I want to make sure to start gradually, build slowly, and rewire my brain as well as my body.

So… here are the concrete steps I've taken in the last two days since we began: I returned from Costa Rica and didn't overeat at all during last 48 hours of travel & partying. I've been mindful of eating only a portion of what was on my plate, leaving the rest or taking it to go. i've only had one alcoholic drink per day in the last two days, which is definitely down from when I was imbibing during vacation. I worked out at the gym yesterday and today, and also got in some great cardio. I did great work on my splits, and I'm looking forward to creating a workout schedule that makes me feel great. I joined the YMCA (one block from where I live!) For my emotional health, I'm doing a great job of journaling, reaching out to friends and family, and identifying people in my life who are more health buddies than drinking & eating buddies. i'm off to a great start!
