Weight lost so far: 17.8lbs

At the end of my last DietBet, just over a month ago, I weighed 214.4lbs. 17.8lbs less than I weigh right now.  That is very disappointing.

In that month, I have started a new job, bought and moved into a new house, got married, and enjoyed a lovely week of all-inclusive delicious honeymoon.  Amazing, exciting times, but sticking to healthy eating choices was not high on my list of priorities, and such fun has come with its fair share of stress and comfort eating, as the numbers on the scale can attest.  Ooops.

I refuse to beat myself up for slipping.  Life is to be lived.  I remember that once I considered cancelling a summer working in a Zambian hospital, because it might disrupt my running regime.  Yes, it was disrupted, but I got back into running eventually, and Zambia was spectacular and terrifying and incredible.  I can’t sacrifice experiencing and enjoying life for the sake of a few weeks of perfect dieting here or there.  Life happens, and that’s amazing.

So, I am rebooting my efforts.  I am stopping the slide, digging my heels in and declaring renewed determination in the battle of the bulge.  My battle cry is consisting of three Transformers, one week after another, $395 of investment in myself.  Quite a big commitment, something I can’t just walk away from or forget about.  All I can do is forgive myself and get on with it.

I am strong.  I am determined.  I am capable.  I can do this.  I will do this.
