Venting about motiviation (or lack of it)

Sounds like you are doing great! You are right, it really does get easier because our palettes adjust to eating better and once you give up (as a habit) sugar and processed foods, you will find yourself craving healthier foods. Food you used to like (a donut and a hotdog are my favorite examples) will no longer appeal to you - I know for me those 2 items don't even seem like food or anything I would put in my mouth. That said, of course there are treats out there you will still want sometimes. And you can fit them in occasionally as long as you get right back on track. it is hard when you are with someone who eats carelessly and/or who is constantly eating things that you view as a treat. I know - my husband is an ice cream fiend and that is my one real sweet weakness. But as you say, it really does help to keep your eye on the prize! You have heard me say this - always remember your "WHY" - why is losing weight and being healthier so important to you? Weight loss is very mental and you need to be motivated by something that really matters to you. That said, there is also the issue of balance and deprivation. If you are able to have an occasional egg roll without hitting the "slippery slope" just like you can drink alcohol once or twice a week and keep within your daily plan - than that is OK.
