Would it be easy to repeal it? I knowing nothing of that process. (Is there a Schoolhouse Rocks video on that?) That would be tragic, to give people coverage and then snatch it away again over partisanship. My heart goes out to you. Stay optimistic - we have avenues beyond voting and elections to make our voices heard.
