I've decided to measure myself in addition to using the scale number to track my progress, as I'm aiming to keep my lean muscle mass while shedding the fat during my first DietBet.
Measurements
Waist: 35.25"
Stomach (@ bellybutton/largest width): 37.5"
R. Arm (@ middle of bicep): 11.5"
Thigh (@ thickest part/middle): 22.75"
Goals
I wouldn't necessarily say I have set goals when it comes to my measurements. I've been lifting heavy for a year or so now and have recently gotten into oly lifting, which I'm sure will build up some muscles in places I haven't used before (I certainly feel that way, at least).
I do, however, have a few numbers in mind as a starting point:
Stomach/Waist: 24-26"
Thigh: ~20"
I don't expect to reach them within this DietBet, but I'm curious to see how far along I get.
I'm still debating as to the proper timeframes in which to measure. I may do a check-in of this nature at every Weigh-In during the DietBet so that I keep an eye on them.
I also think keeping an eye on my measurements will be a more sustainable metric in the future, as I plan/hope to build muscle after I lose my excess fat.
