Yes you read that right, this is the end of this stage of my journey. I have spent the last six months particpating in a Bariatric program. I went from eating not great, not totally healthy to drinking shakes four times a day (900 cal) for 12 weeks to then slowly transitoning to solid food again. the last few weeks we have been working on ourselves and building our skills and knowledge to be on our own, no more weekly meetings.
Monday was my appointment with the nurse parctioner and the exercise expert. I did my body composition test. This gives us how much wieight we have lost and what the composition of that loss was. So it is official I have lost 15 lbs yay not bad for an old girl like me lol the loss consisted of 5lb of fat and 10 lb of muscle. Ok not what we want!! so the exercise expert is a little concerned as I am. not a good thing. I did remind her that I had been fairly active before starting the program and had to back off my exercise program when i started the shakes. I did talk with her about adding in weight training, specific purposeful weight training. So I have an appointment with her on Monday again to go over a program, using weights and resistance bands for when I travel. I sat with the nurse practioner after seeing her and got the results from my blood tests. My numbers are good, A1C is down to 5.7, good cholesteral is up like it should be, bad is down like it should be, liver functions are good that number was down as well. everything is in normal ranges and looking good. I was really happy then she commented on the weight loss or the fact that I didn't hit the goal of 5-10%. that really took the glow off everything else. The good news from this though is they are starting something new and those clients that dont meet goal but are close can continue using the shakes for a while longer. It will be two shakes a day with two meals. When she asked I jumped at the chance. There is also a daily injection but I really am trying to avoid stuff like that so it was a quick no.
So Monday I will get a new exercise program and tuesday I will meet with the dietitian and then the nurse practioner to start this new phase of my journey and the program. This is something new for the center but I am sure this will be the added kick I need to get closer to where I want to be!!
Moving forward to my healthiest self yet!!
