During my current round of DietBet games, I’m committing to 30 days of checking in-Good or Ugly

I don’t like pulling out the computer on the weekend. I find I get sucked in and don’t do what I need to. So I’m typing and posting my Sunday post on Monday…but it’s about my Sunday!

I followed my plan I made on Saturday and DID IT ALL. Saturday night was fantastic, so much so that I am buying the season tickets for next year to do the movies on the beach thing all of next summer season.  What made it even better was where my mind was. I was in a happy place. I had done my shift at the office, got to the beach and did a 5.25 mile run then sat by the water’s edge and listened to the waves crash against the shore.

There was a little comedy as  out-of-staters tried to “play” in the ocean. The wind kicked up to the point where I was fully clothed with a towel wrapped around me to warm me up.  So, time to pack it up!

Now on to Sunday morning…that run I was so excited to do, because I thought running with others may help me pick up my pace and identify how to get faster, well this group of 4 strangers RUN!! They were talking about trying to do a 7 to 7.5 mile per minute pace in the upcoming half marathon.  To put this into my perspective, I was ecstatic when on my recent 10-mile run my pace was 10:55, <11!  I ran with them a bit hoping their energy would rub off on me and I could do it via peer pressure. Mile 3 I faked an excuse and split paths…Feel crappy about that.  I did get a personal record running mile one in 9:20. I covered the minimum miles I needed for my training…ran to Disneyland to meet them= 2 miles, ran 3 miles with them, and walked back home for the cool down.  5 run/2 walk

It’s ok I will run my own pace and run my own race, but it was a reality check that I’m not in my 20s, 30s, or even 40s! I won’t give up, I will press on. Lesson learned group runs and group thinking, can’t make this girl run faster.  There are so many ideas for training that I will find one that works perfect for me.
