January is over and with it, two Kickstarters and Round 1 of my Transformer. I won the two Kickstarters - with a modest profit - and also the Transformer round. Over the month I lost 9.9lbs, mainly through 'clean' eating and walking, although I did do a little cardio and resistance training as well. What I did not do, which I have in the past, is count calories. I find this makes me focus on food too much and also triggers my OCD tendencies. It takes all the pleasure out of caring for myself and instead turns weight loss into a pure numbers game.
Here are some things that worked for me this month:
- Drinking green tea. I drank between one and four cups of flavoured green tea per day.
- Being strict on supplementation. I took Vitamin D, iron and a multivitamin every day and also probiotics when needed.
- Transitioning from Kindle to audio books at bedtime. I have been bringing my bedtime earlier by listening to audiobooks instead of reading. The link between blue light exposure and melatonin production is well researched and people who don't get enough sleep have trouble losing weight.
- Walking every day and getting exposure to daylight. This has helped me burn fat and sleep better.
My goals for February are:
- Drink more water
- Double my resistance training from once a week to twice a week
- Get a thyroid test
- Donate blood
See you in a month!
