In July 2010 I fell in the shower and shattered my leg leaving me in a wheelchair for 6 months until I could walk with a cane.  It took 3 surgeries and left me with 2 metal plates and 15 screws holding my leg together.  With my limited mobility my husband and I both gained a lot of weight. 

In 2012 we had our son.  It was a difficult pregnancy and I gained even more weight when I was on bed rest.  I had an emergency c-section 6 weeks early.  Our son was not only a preemie, but he was also born with 2 congenital heart defects and spent his first 10 weeks of life in the hospital.  All that time sitting around and eating out made our weight rise even higher than before.  Our son's first open heart surgery had a few complications and my husband and I decided if he survived that we would change our life and lead a heart healthy lifestyle as a family. 

It is now 2014.  My husband has lost 100 lbs, is currently running half marathons and will be running his first marathon in May 2015.  I have lost 85 lbs so far, but I still want to loose 70 more. I walk and do yoga.  Our son is doing great after a few cardiac caths, a couple angioplasties and 2 open heart surgeries.  He is an active 2 year old that runs everywhere and climbs on everything.  With his shirt on you would have no idea the difficult start he has had in life.  He does not get to slack off because he is 2.  We follow a heart healthy diet in our house and have lots of outdoor play time then on the weekends he has swimming lessons. 

With my husband at his goal weight I no longer have a diet buddy.  I am hoping that dietbet will appeal to my competative nature and help me to loose the last 70 lbs.  I have been stuck within 5 lbs of the same weight for about 6 months. Enough is enough already.  I am kicking it up by going back to the gym in addition to walking with my friend in the mornings.  I am also back logging all my foods. It may take me a while, but this weight will come off!
