I think that's the YMCA motto. Something like that anyway.

Started my day with the 8:00 am walking group at the church I've been attending. It meets every Tuesday and Thursday, but today was my first time. We walked inside (laps in the gym) for an hour, and I burned 241 calories. At the end, we had a short devotion, and the subject was the way we deal with others' words toward us -- not letting praise go to our heads and not letting criticism keep us down.

When I left, I noticed a difference. It felt good to nourish my spirit.

In this time where I am focused so heavily on my body (winning the DietBet, finishing my upcoming races), my mind and spirit have been weakened. Work wears on my mind, and a lack of independent meditation/devotion/prayer time has damaged my spirit.

I had a great DietBet day -- two workouts and 204 calories left over! -- and I am aware now that I need to be working on other aspects of my life beyond my physical body. It really does matter. I am already looking forward to walking on Tuesday at 8:00 am.
