Greetings, Diet-Betters!

As those of you in my Transformer game know, I am working on a 30 Day Challenge (today is Day 4), of eating clean, avoiding binges and trigger foods, etc. It is going pretty well, generally, but I could use a bit more accuracy in honesty in tracking my food...and today I want to talk about something that has me "scared straight": DIABETES.

A Facebook friend of mine around my age (I am 30) just posted that she is pretty much certain that she has diabetes, and that she is merely waiting on the doctor's diagnosis to confirm. She had this very fatalistic attitude about it, along the lines of: "I've pretty much known for a while that I have this...I am overweight and have all the symptoms...I hope it's not too late; I don't want to take insulin."

Reading her post chilled me to the bone! So young to have diabetes! :( I refuse to share her fate! I am determined to lower my risk factors for diabetes, and the best way to do this is by eating right and exercising!

Not so long ago, my risk factors were certainly higher than they are now: I was 35 pounds heavier. So I AM on the right track, but I still have a ways to go...I am 20-25 pounds overweight, and I notice fat in my abdomen...I am scared to death of ever getting diabetes!

So for today, my motivation is the desire to stay healthy, disease-free, and medication-free!
