So last week I made a promise in my blog that I would take Jillian Michael's advice and step up my workouts in the gym to include 60 minutes a day for 5 days a week of high intensity cardio where my heart rate would be 85% or higher.

Yesterday I kept my eye on the gadgets and pushed my cardio for longer than usual.  Resulting in 57 minutes of high heart rate cardio on the treadmills and the rowing machines.  It wasn't easy, and I needed to take recovery breaks in between.  This wasn't 57 minutes of straight high intensity cardio, this was 8 to 10 minutes of really pushing it, followed by 8 to 10 minutes of recovery at lower pace, or doing some strength training.

The extra time in the higher intensity zones also yielded about 100 more calories per hour burned than I usually get when I only do 30-40 minutes of high intensity in 2 hours.

I'll be keeping an eye on the gadgets more for the next two weeks to maintain this performance and hopefully I will see some positive results on the scale for my weigh ins.
