Non-scale victory of the week!

Cooked a healthy #Whole30 meal for a friend last night, and they loved it. Also, showed them how eating healthy is actually cheaper than eating all that prepackaged stuff (although it does mean more time cooking and more trips to the grocery, since healthy food doesn’t last as long). Photo is of one of the healthy meals I made this week — all from scratch — fresh veggies and tilapia.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

More exercise outside of work (had car trouble this week, so spent much of my time dealing with that).

Do a post mortem on this DietBet thing to determine if I actually made money, or if it all went back into dues.

Non-scale victory of the week!

I did better on eating … in the sense of quantity and quality. Still deeply depressed. All payment of bills this month have been late. Continuing to trim things out of my budget. Continuing to look for work.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

Continue to cut out unhealthy food. Photo is of some of the food I cooked for myself this week. Tilapia, potatoes, and onions, with pimentos, a little bit of butter, Celtic sea salt, and (here’s the naughty part) Captain Rodney’s sweet & spicy pepper relish.

Finish well! Almost at the end of this thing. Then I’ll be doing the math to see if DietBet is actually something I can afford.

Non-scale victory of the week!

This Saturday, I led a group hike on the Mount Nebo Rim Trail in Arkansas. We had members from Memphis Outdoor Adventures, Arkansas Outdoor Adventures, Little Rock Hiking Meetup, and Natural State Outdoor Enthusiasts with us. I’ve posted a short video of our hike here: http://facebook.com/681241422/posts/10155474511391423/

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

I missed my weigh in last week, but I’ve been doing terrible. I’m very depressed about my job situation. I was laid off at Christmas, after 18 years, along with a bunch of other people. And so far, I’ve not been able to find another graphic design position. As my finances continue to dwindle, I’ve been able to spend less and less time on exercise, as I devote almost every spare moment to odd jobs to keep from going bankrupt. And I’ve been depression eating — making super bad food choices.

Non-scale victory of the week!

Another Pinnacle Mountain Hike, this time around the entire Base Trail, and then 2 of us went to the summit. The picture this time is me near the summit. My non-scale victory is that I’ve lost so much weight, I now have to take my kilt in, because it no longer fits.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

Well, I made it to 164.0 this week, but no lower. I still have a bad habit of giving myself calorie rewards after a workout (ex. a malt after our summit climb) — which will be okay after I reach my maintenance weight, but not until then.

Keep up the downward trend, hopefully by bigger leaps than I did this week.

Non-scale victory of the week!

Finally hiked at Lake Ouachita over in Arkansas! I have been wanting to do this for a long time. No one else showed up, so I hiked by myself. The picture this time is from that hike.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

These last 20 pounds are proving very difficult to bring down. I keep on hovering between 166–172. I think I’m being hindered by the fact that I’ve already beat this DietBet, so maybe I need to start a new one with the goal of reaching 150. Maybe that would give me the willpower to do it.

Non-scale victory of the week!

Between work and a 16 mile walk on my “day off,” I did 22+ miles. I Got called into work to sub for a coworker who’s car had gone out, so I wasn’t able to get the full marathon in that I had hoped for. But honestly, I was glad for the excuse to “take it easy.” I also did 10+ miles today, before heading in to work — and didn’t “reward myself.”

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

Not much that I can think of. This was a great week, except for getting my credit card stolen — AGAIN!

Dunno. My non-exercise goal is to get early voting done, if I’m not too late. Photo is my lovely aquarium waiting for me when I got home from my 10+ miles. So peaceful!

Non-scale victory of the week!

No non-scale or scale victories this week. It was Burger Week in Memphis. I did hike out at Lucius Burch with friends. The photo is from that hike.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

Everything. So hard hitting these last 20 lbs.

Non-scale victory of the week!

I took another group to the top of Pinnacle Mountain on Tuesday! That’s twice in less than a week. Photo is me at the summit. Also, lost another pants size! Wearing 34’s now (was wearing 42’s at the start of the year).

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

I had some days where I really slipped up on diet and gained a couple of pounds. Getting these last 20 lbs off is proving difficult! Also, despite being to the top of Pinnacle twice in 6 days, I haven’t gotten as much exercise in the other days.

Be more consistent with exercise! Hit the gym after work as often as possible, like I used to. Hit that quarter marathon goal every day (except Sunday).

Non-scale victory of the week!

Hiked to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain on a July 4th (photo is on the summit with my hiking group). Always beautiful views from up there.

What do you feel you could have done better this week?

Not participated in (or at least not as heartily) the July 4th picnic. That wasn’t the only slippage, but a good part of it.

What are your goals for the upcoming week?

Going back to #Whole30, instead of #DanielDiet. The Daniel Diet was just too strict. I couldn’t keep it going for even a week. Whole30 is much more doable as a lifestyle.
