Ive been steadily gaining weight due to a sedentary lifestyle and poor food choices. I really felt it on vacation last year during a 13 mile hike up a mountain! I could barely do it and I was disappointed. I want to increase my stamina and be healthy

The 2 week plateau ended with a whoosh, putting me 1.5 lb under my goal!!!! I weighed out of the Transformer and have been verified! And I weigh less than my husband :)

Does anyone else struggle with a “happy medium”? I’m either eating everything in sight or afraid to eat hardly anything at all. For a while I was really limiting what I was eating and didn’t realize until recently that I wasn’t even eating 1500 calories a day most days. My mom started weight watchers so I’ve been doing point tracking like she does to monitor how much food I eat (you can pretty much find everything you need online without spending a penny, but no support group). Now, I’m eating much closer to the right amount of food but I’m mentally struggling now. Maybe I’m just crazy but I guess I see more food (even if it’s healthy) as more fat/weight. I’m down 40 pounds so far this year but I have a lot to go yet. Does anyone else struggle with this? Thanks!

Hi! I also have a book recommendation "the obesity code" it's a collection of research into why we as humans gain weight. From genetics to misinformation and the history of the human diet. I havent finished it yet, but it does go into explaining HOW we can eat right to lose weight. It's not all calories. It's also listening to your hormones and avoiding refined sugars and starches which can be found in many carbohydrates. For years, we were told carbs are better than fat and now we're realizing it's the opposite. The human body needs healthy fats and since many food items with carbs contains sugar as well, that's what we should avoid. Sugary foods are addictive and mess up our hormones so our hunger receptors don't work properly.

Anyway, it's an interesting read. Definitely not saying you should cut carbs out of your diet because you need those too, but limit your intake and choose foods that are good for your body/less processed.

I eat anywhere from 1200-1500 a day and I eat more if I'm hungry. Especially on days that you work out hard, be sure to listen to your body to know what it needs.

Also, limiting your food to an 8-10 hr window if it works for you will allow your insulin levels to regulate and you'll find that losing weight is a little easier

Did terrible with water today, only got to 48oz when I have been drinking a gallon a day. Ate fried grouper and French fries and a scoop of ice cream! But it was the last night of our vacation and I got engaged. I don’t feel bad because tomorrow I’m right back on the wagon! I am sad to go home but will be nice to get back to a regular routine.

I'm 1 lb under my goal weight today and just under 21lbs lost since March 26th, and my brain automatically says "YAY, now we can relax!" NOPE. I'm so close to onederland and still have 3lbs to lose for my other dietbet which ends a week after this one, so I've got to keep pushing!

Unless I physically can't keep going due to an injury or illness, I HAVE to avoid slowing down. I have a long way to go before I'm a healthy, comfortable weight, and I'm not going to let all of my current progress go to waste.

I hope everyone has their own motivation heading into the weekend 😆

It's crazy how sneaky I get when I stop tracking all of my food! I went to the city the other day with my MIL and didn't plan on tracking my food until we hit the food court. Then I realized I HAD to, or else I'd have decided on something super unhealthy! For some reason, when I don't track it, it doesn't count! And I can easily go over 2,000 and then some. I did actually go back in and add all the food I ate on one of the days I skipped tracking and was SHOCKED and disappointed by the amount of calories I actually consumed. I think that's been the biggest thing for me this time around. Staying honest and accountable. Some days, you slip up, but after feeling disappointed and regretting those bad days, it's less likely to happen again.

I always used to think, "oh, there's no way I'm overeating!" And wondering why I was gaining weight so quickly. WELL, it's time to be honest. And at that point I was probably eating close to 3,000 cals daily. With zero exercise, except for the occasional walk or bike ride. I feel like I've made changes that will stick with me long term, and I've learned so much about food and my body. This isn't just about being fit, it's also about learning and recognizing bad habits. I've also started to love my body for what it CAN do, and that's huge for me. Not even 4 months ago, I broke into tears while shopping for work clothes and struggling to find some that looked ok on me. I don't want to feel like that ever again.

Aww thanks Stephanie! I'm done making excuses for myself. The fact of the matter is that I've had bad habits my whole life and that's why I'm overweight. I'm the only person who can correct those habits too and choose to live a more health conscious lifestyle.

Nibble a little bit of this and that and you think you arent eating much only to find that gosh this calories are really a lot.thats what i hate..its easy to underestimate the number of calories you eat if u not tracking

If you would have asked me last week if I had any chance of actually winning my bet, there was no way! But here I am today only 3.8lbs away from my goal and still losing. I can actually win my own bet!! Wow, what a difference a week can make. I finally got serious about this and its paying off on the scale! I'm so excited!!! Its still going be close because I'm at weight my body always loves to plateau at. I'm not quitting though.

Way to go!!! I was losing weight very slowly or not at all until this week too! It's nice to finally see the scale move right??

  • What a great group! I have been having a blast on Fitbit challenges the past couple of weeks, and have made some awesome connections. Pushing each other with friendly and supportive competition is where it’s at!

2.8 lbs away from goal! After being diagnosed with PCOS, my doctor put me on a supplement to help with the insulin resistance and I completely changed my diet (had a few small cheat meals along the way!). After cutting out refined sugar, breads and pasta - I feel better and realizing how much of a brain fog I was in! So pumped to continue this lifestyle!

Less brain fog has been the BEST nsv since eating better/working out. I also take magnesium supplements which helps me with my energy levels somewhat. I have pcos also.

It is! I started magnesium spray on my feet at night to help me sleep a few years ago and ran out awhile ago. I need to get some more!
