When you miss a rounds weight loss goal, how do you not let yourself feel defeated? How do you shake it off and try again for next month? I am really struggling mentally right now.

I keep it in perspective. Do I have a roof over my head? Do I have food in my belly? Am I fairly healthy and employed? (family too) Then the rest is all just the small details or a cool bonus! :relaxed:


Look at the positive things you've achieved, accept the mistakes and leave them behind. Make adjustments to your routines and get back on the path. Remember this is a learning experience. You have to make changes that are life changes, not just this month or this year. It has to be for your future or it won't last.

Am I the only one who wears the EXACT same shirt and shorts for weigh in? I guess I think it might help the referees know it’s really me 😆 and worried any other combo might weigh more?

I do as well. Have been using the same shirt and shorts for at least 2 years if DietBet’s. I can’t always tell from the picture that I have lost weight but can tell from the fit. Today I was able to take off my shorts without unbuttoning them.


I switch for each round. Round 2 I wore black shirt and shorts and it is hard to tell the difference. Think I'll switch to white shirt this time!

  • I’m saving my cheat for later in the month because it’ll be my birthday and my daughter’s birthday (she’s turning 6.) So I celebrated my weigh in with a (mostly) veggie feast! Ponzu chicken, ginger rice, sautéed carrots, quick pickled cucumber, and roasted broccoli and green beans. I’m stuffed!

Ugh! I was at goal on Monday, excited to maybe have a bit of a jump start toward round 3. Well, Tue and Wed I’m back up 1.5lb :( I got a couple of theories why, and a strategy to make goal, but I sure hate having to cut it so close. I should have known not to believe a Monday weight could be so low.

Mentally and physically drained from... well, life. Also, feel a cold coming on and it’s affecting my sinuses/jawline on top of TMD from anxiety/grinding from... life this past week.

Maybe a cold is just what I need to drop the last bit before scale day. My hubs is in this game too and he has a ways to go. 😔

So I seem 2 b at a standstill on my weight loss. Could do a little more exercise, but have doing good on healthier eating. But have 2 teenage boys that we cook together with any info on an air fryer? It says it also broils, I could cook my talipia or salmon in that??

I found an air fryer cumbersome and not worth it.
The fishy smell and taste from cooking shrimp never left the air fryer. I sent it back.

We barely use ours- small. I like the way things come out but it hasn’t “changed my life”. It’s a small convection oven. I can live without it (hubs picked it out - he barely uses it either )

Does anyone have personal experience with Noom?

I really think I know how and what to eat, but I have a significant will power problem once those few pounds fall off and the scale stalls.

(I’m still in the first few pounds stage, but I’m looking ahead - something’s got to be different this time.)

I lost 20lb on Noom but like anything, you have to keep doing the habits (Mainly meal tracking and self reflection). I “took a break” and never went back :(. It is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I’m finding that the Beck Diet Solution (not actually a diet but a self-help process also rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has provided more depth of content for the mental work than I got from Noom. I, too, know what I should do but play a lot of mental games to justify eating too much of the wrong things. You can probably get Beck book at library or a used copy online - not too much $ to jus check it out. There are Beck groups on FB, too.


I am using it now. I also like the colours as it helps me to pick foods. With noom nothing is restricted but the colorahelp you to eat in moderation. There are articles each day that teach you how to make it a lifestyle change and it is well planned out. There are a lot of articles but I do not find them long like others here, I find them useful to changing where i have failed on countless other diets.
