I’m only about half way there, but I’m so sick of letting myself down that I think I’m finally making progress. I’m hoping my hormones will continue to work with my goals for the rest of the month—I’m adjusting to perimenopause, and that’s been a hard route, honestly. But I’m not giving up! I’m working hard on nutrition and mindset. Every time I reach for a snack or heavily processed food, I ask myself “DINTEO?” Or Do I Need This Eating Opportunity (something my nutritionist Ilana Muhlstein came up with). It’s really helping me reach for higher quality foods and check in with myself about whether I’m actually hungry OR is it just boredom? I do need to work on remembering that lifesavers do count, though. I ate them too much in the car (hour long commute one way—need to switch to chewing gum!). How’s everyone else doing on this journey??

I love Ilana and her 2 bunnies. The saying that gets me thinking is “if you nibble it, scribble it”. So if I grab those two animal crackers from the container I have to stop and write it down which no longer makes it “grab and go”

I’m struggling. I’m in perimenopause as weak and have yet to find a good doctor who understands women’s issues at this stage of life in my area. I work out, I’ve cut calories and I cut out sugar. I work out with weights 3x a week, some weeks more. I’ve only lost 1.5 lbs so far. It’s discouraging, especially during this time of year. Work keeps bringing in treats and I continue to resist them. I hope at some point soon my body releases some of this inflammation and weight that it does not want to let go of.

My office is doing a exercise challenge. Options are run, walk, bike. Any tips to actually wake up early to do the treadmill? 5am is early when kids still wake me up ?

My hubbs is a hs teacher and needs to get out the door by 6:30 to get to work on time. I wake up with him at 4:45 so we can workout together (kiddo is 8 and usually up by 6:45). So I’d recommend an accountability partner! Have a friend who wants to do it with you? Commit to chatting on the phone while you walk. also love the TV rec. there are shows I want to watch but can’t again bc kiddo. By the time he goes to bed at 8:45 I’m exhausted. Clean up whatever needs cleaning up and go to bed myself. Going to bed early (between 9–10) def makes it easier to get up at 5. Good luck! You can do this!!!

I guess the last part of my comment is really go to bed when your kiddos do and move the watch your favorite show to the morning rather than night since I know a lot of people watch their shows after kids go to bed. :)

Yalda, that is not 90 straight. I do 15 as part of habit stacking. Each time I use the restroom, I do 15.

Courtney W.

Awesome!!! I felt the same about joining through the holidays. I really, really need it.

I am struggling this week, as my weight is up for no discernible reason. I got all my steps today, my workout, a gallon of water, and veggies most at lunch and dinner! Hope the scale reflects all my hard mindset work by the end of the week!

Me too. And I've had to resubmit my weight. So even more to loose now its gone up ?‍?‍♀️ maybe drinking more water will help. Added up yesterday I only had 6 glasses of water.

Keep at it ! I have been working hard but did have some rocky moments this week resulting of no weight loss but I now the scale can drop 2-3 lbs at one if I keep at it . We have got this

  • Weightloss tip: shop early & shop the perimeter of your store! Easy Saturday night dinner (rotisserie chicken & baby broccoli) with markdowns i found after the gym this morning as usually I can find cheaper meat when I go early to the grocery store, which let's us try new things and saves us money in the long run while eating healthy! Also most stores keep the less processed foods on the outside aisles so It can help with temptations as you learn what foods to work for you. What're you having for dinner? Dont let the weekend be your WEAK-end! (:

Such a great tip! I need to go get our turkey today but I have a coupon for that for free! I also can often find ground pork on managers special, I guess because people don’t buy it as often!

Chicken and salad for tonight

  • Today is day 3 of saying yes to my health for the rest of this calendar year. I’m planning some treats for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and to allow small treats throughout, but I’m really working on my mindset and approach to eating right now. I’m feeling good about where I’m at, and like I can finish this year a little lighter than I started it, a little happier, a little healthier. Got my lifting workout in and am about to just get a walk for clarity of mind.

During this challenge, I’m trying hard to work on my mindset about food. I have been very loosey goosey, eating whatever I want whenever I feel like it, and I know that’s a sure fire way to spiral into rapid and consistent weight gain. Focusing this month on fuel rather than “eat” and on need rather than want!
