Great game! Lost 43 pounds this game, little frustrated that I did not lose any more the last month but onwards and upwards. I hope everyone has at least come close to their goals and will continue with their weight loss journey. Even after setbacks remember that what you do from here matters and you can live your best life by just continuing down the road that got you this far! Best of luck to everyone not just for this game but also to getting the weight under control for good!

Anyone else feel like when stressful and unfair things happen that over eating is justified? Up 5 pounds this week and frustrated, mostly at myself. It’s like there is a part of me that just thinks if I’m sad then I deserve high calorie food…

Food is such a nice pleasure when you are feeling down. I’m with you…happens to me all the time.

It's real, I think the trick is to reign it in and not ruin an entire day. Remember exercise helps with mood too

  • Just sharing with the group a couple of things that really helped me. I replaced the pleasure of rich fattening foods with extra spicy Indian or Asian food. The other thing that is really made the difference for me is not just trying to lose weight but trying to get back in shape through cycling. I find it a lot easier to do something fun that loses weight rather than just giving up on food after food after food that I’d rather eat. I’m so happy to be ahead of this game and to have lost more than 60 pounds this year. I spent so many years putting this off and I wish I had done this so long ago because I feel so much better and have so much more energy. I would say to anyone who’s struggling with this, except that this is a lifelong journey, make other changes to make yourself happy, and do the things you would do if you were as healthy as you wish you were.

  • I was so determined. I had lost approx 45lbs since Jan. I joined this challenge to keep it challenging. I had actually hit my 10% this June but ive beem struggling this summer. Was up 15 from my lowest this summer and I'm down 5 of that. But i dont think I've hit my 6% min to qualify. I am approx 10 off from this months goal still. Either way I'm so proud of my progress this year. Sucks losing the financial peice but its less important than my health gains this year. This journey is not over yet for me. Hope everyone is doing great and stays motivated whether or not they win this bet. Your health is the most important thing.

Update 1: Ahh i did the math on my calculator!! I might have got the 6%! Wish me luck

Update 2: submitted weigh in i should be good to enter final round. I have exactly 9lbs to go for final round! Wish me luck

I had a nice time visiting my parents for 3 weeks but I’m up a pound for this round. I’ll have to hustle to catch up for end of round 5.

Yay! Made it! Good luck to all who are still working on that last little bit today.

Has anyone here ever done a maintainer? I’ve done a lot of dietbets over the years, and after the end, I tend to creep back up pretty soon after, and then six months to a year later I’m doing another transformer. I was thinking about just signing up for one maintainer after the other after this to keep myself accountable…

I've been wondering the same thing. My diet bet yoyo graph is sort of ridiculous

Michael

I’m coming to terms with the truth that this is a lifelong thing, change and watch food every day or gain it all back

Stupid company trip and big fancy dinners, made it down to 18.7 to 223 in four days, so frustrated with myself… back to the grind… it feels like it takes two weeks of perfect days to outweigh 2 days of bad eating… I’m a little terrified that when I get to end of my goal weight letting up a little will take me back to where I started

It’s like there is a part of me that would always overeat the worst foods if given a chance. I look at the success rates of long term weight loss and it’s not great and I just hope that after all this I can be the exception. I’m back on track now and will keep pushing. Little victories big set backs and finding the will to press on and on…

Kim T.

Yes, I’m right there with you. I feel so good right now with the weight going down, but even watching my husband eat whatever he wants makes it hard to always deny myself. I try to look at it as far as trying to live a healthy life so I can be around to watch my grandkids get married and have babies. I’ll try to make that my priority over food and I try to look at it as when I do eat something crappy., What do I feel like afterwards? I feel mad at myself like was it really worth that little one or two minutes of pleasure to gain 5 pounds.

An hour and ten minutes of hard biking today (and then 20 minutes of soft biking when the knee said maybe good enough). Average heart rate of 150 for an and half! 18 miles. Feels really great to have a little energy and not be on the couch all the time! 32ish pounds down about double that left to go!!
