I have Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid and can cause hypothyroidism. Hashimoto's comes with an intolerance to Gluten: Wheat, Barley & Rye.

Gluten molecules are very similar to thyroid tissue, the immune system thinks the thyroid gland is gluten and attacks it. The more gluten you eat, the more antibodies you will make and the more the thyroid will be attacked!

The thyroid gland is part of your endocrine system, it produces hormones that coordinate many of your body's activities. It stores and produces hormones that affect the function of virtually every organ in our bodies including our metabolic rate, body weight and energy levels.

I met someone while on my honeymoon in Cancun who also has Hashimoto's. She told me about a natural medicine that she takes called Armour Thyroid. I did some research and found so many people with so many positive things to say about it. My Endo would not prescribe Armour, she said my panels were good. She was not listening to ME about how I felt. The panels are good, I agree but me, I'm not ME! I've not been ME since I started the synthetic Thyroid hormone over four years ago. My mom found a doctor for me, I've been on Armour for seven weeks and it is a blessing. I'm myself. I want to exercise, I want to go out, I want to clean the house, I want to walk the dog! I use to sit around and do NOTHING because I felt like crap! There were a lot of other symptoms but I'm not going to share too much here.

Yesterday I started my gluten free diet. I'm intolerant to corn and dariy and I cannot have soy while using Armour (it doesn't allow it to work properly) so this is quite a challenge but hey, I woke up today. I have a reason to give this a try. I feel better on my new Armour Thyroid medicine and look forward to how much better I will feel being committed to being gluten free.

24 hours GF and counting...
