*34.5% of the way to my goal!!!*

So, my last blog really did manage to light a fire under me, remind me how far I have come, and how I am definitely not hopeless.  However, I still have a lot of work to do.  I had two or three good days, then things started to fade again, so it is time to get that momentum back again.

Fitness Goals
I’m actually doing really well.  My two big goals are:
1. 10,000 steps a day
2. Go to the gym twice a week

I have been absolutely nailing them.  The 10,000 steps a day are starting to wear a bit and I have days when I just don’t wanna play.  However, I am now on a 47 day streak (592,587 steps or 260.9 miles) and I am determined not to let myself down.  Next week will be the big challenge - 14 hour days (including commuting time), four in a row, not a lot of time to fit in extra steps, I’ll have to be extra super motivated.

I currently motivate myself to go to the gym by watching episodes of Sherlock while I’m there, so it feels like a treat, and I look forward to going.
My circuits currently consist of 4 repeats of the following (finished off with other 1km for luck):
- 1km on Treadmill at 3% incline + 6 kph
- 2x 10 Triceps extensions with 85lbs
- 2x 10 Suspension trainer inverted rows
- 2x 10 Hammer curl + shoulder press each side with 6kg dumbells
These aren’t the specific goals I set out in my last post, but I think they are comfortable yet challenging enough for me.

Nutrition
My nutrition is pretty variable to be honest.  I am pretty good at my monitoring, but my actual calories still sit at around to 1800-2400.  There was an incident where I bought a bunch of avocadoes and was gutted that they came in at around 350 cals apiece.  I know that they are good fats and all, but they really threw off my numbers, and made me feel like I was messing up.  Because I bought them, I couldn’t face wasting them, so I ate them anyway.  My weird food monster that wants everything it sees was out to play again, but at least it was staved off with something healthy(ish).  I think a big part of my problem was that I haven’t been drinking water as well as I used to, so I was feeling hungry and eating a lot more than I was a month ago.

Motivation
I have decided to reframe my progress from when I first started making healthier decisions, back in March, when on my worst day, I made it to 250lbs.  That really scared me, I felt like a whale at my highest ever previous weight of 235.  I have also reframed my goal weight as 185lbs.  It is the weight I will hit a BMI of 29.9 and qualify for IVF.  Also, I feel that at that weight, I will be in a better position to accurately calculate my lean mass/body fat percentage and determine an ultimate goal weight from there.  I think this redefining of my numbers has been really good for giving my achievements thus far some context.  I’m over 1/3rd of the way to my goal!!!

Also, I have gone down a size in my scrub bottoms at work, and I’m really close going down a size in scrub tops too. I’m weirdly excited about the whole thing.

I stood on the scale this morning and came in a 224lbs.  I know that it isn’t a real weight, and I’m sure it’ll bob back up a pound or two again.  However, it does give me hope, and the two hundred and teens feel tantalisingly close.  So, again, generally quite excited :)

Plans:
- Gym twice this week
- 10,000 steps a day (really going to need that motivation on those long days on call)
- Aim 1800-2000 cals a day (I may have to be politely assertive while visiting the soon-to-be-in-laws this weekend)
- Drink more water, at least a pint when I get home from work
- Focus on winning my Transformer rounds this coming week and getting down that size in my scrubs

Wish me luck!!!
