Hi, All!

I am sooo excited to get this started with you--our very own, personal weight loss challenge. We will give ourselves one month (28 days to be exact) to challenge ourselves to lose 4% of our body weight (that's the amount that's suggested in this type of challenge). I will use myself as an example...

I weigh 151 lbs. today. That means that by the end of the month I will have aimed to have lost 6 lbs. Easy way to calculate (though I'm sure you already know the formula) is:

Your Weight x .04 = (how many lbs. are suggested to lose)

Of course, this is all very personal. Aim to lose as much or as little as YOU would like to lose.

We will all be on each other's "team," cheering each other on because we all win (by losing) in the end!

You decide whether or not you'd like to pay into the communal "pot." I put an amount of $15 which I thought sounded reasonable to lose or to win. Whoever loses the most weight would receive $60 if we all decide to pay in and if not, winner wins whatever amount is in the pot. We can also opt to have a pay scale for all contestants...so, the top "loser" will win the highest amount and we'd go down from there so that everyone would win something. I know none of us are cut-throat!

I'm open to your feedback. I think we can play without paying anything and that is another option. I may decide to put my own money in even if no one else does and if I haven't lost the most I will happy divvy it up among us. OR--as Jessica suggested, we can just keep our money in the "bank" (the pot--and pay here) to hold until the month is over at which point we can reward ourselves for achieving our personal goals or put it back in the pot (or in our wallets) to try again.

There are many options and I am open to all of you and what you would most like to do. Each person can choose their own way. The point is for each of us to get out of this what we want to put in.
