It just occurred to me that people might think that the countdown is pounds I'm losing -- it's not! I'm not progressing that steadily! It's just days until my wedding.
Been a little frustrated with the lack of visible progress in the first two weeks. I've logged calorie deficits for 15 of 18 days, and should be a solid 2+ lbs down plus water weight that usually sheds quickly at the beginning, but that's not happening. But rather than focus on that here are the positives related to that:
- I had calorie deficits on 15 of 18 days, including two major holidays!! I'm pretty proud of that.
- My weight hasn't bounced back up to my starting weight even once, including over the gorging holidays!
- Yesterday, I made good choices including forgoing red wine with dinner (it was Italian even!) and forgoing a (second) cookie while watching TV with the SO.
- This morning is the official start of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and I officially resisted my first piece of king cake! Starting strong.
I've gotten into a relatively comfortable routine where I'm eating about 1800 calories per day which works well physically and emotionally. I rarely feel deprived or hungry without an option. I indulge in a few sweets and adult beverages, without going overboard and eating healthy overall. So the game plan is to trust the process. I'm going to keep at it to complete the first month, and adjust if need-be at that time.
While I have been on a schedule that allow for one "off" day per week, I'm going to forgo that for the next ten days as I'll be visiting my sister in New York City for a long weekend mid-month. Knowing I've been good should set me up to be both mindful and forgiving of vacation habits.
Today's Goal
Continue making good choices -- no king cake.
