So I do weigh myself daily, but remain pretty accepting of normal fluctuations. But yesterday, wow, the scale JUMPED UP 4 POUNDS. Four!!! Yikes. That's a lot for me, and obliterated my recent progress.
No big deal, I thought. Yes, I overindulged on Saturday at the Mardi Gras parade, but one bad day doesn't actually equal four pounds, it will go back down. Today...still up four pounds. :( So I'm thinking now that it may be a 'time of the month' thing combined with the Mardi Gras food/booze bonanza on Saturday. Not fun either way.
I'm two weeks away from weigh ins on my Transformer and Kickstarter. I think I'm behind on both of them, even without this most recent crazy fluctuation. So now I'm wondering how to handle it. Last week I tried to get closer to my calorie goal each day of the work week. I'd say it was a partial success. I went over a few days, but it was by much less than I had been going over.
I have not been getting quite as much exercise as I used to. I bike to work (20+ minutes each way) and go to the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd like to add a lunch workout back into my routine, either walking on the treadmill or doing a short weight lifting circuit.
If I take the average weight I've weighed over the last seven days, then I need to lose 4.3 lbs over two weeks to win my Kickstarter. That's honestly supposedly do-able, but is quite a bit higher than what I've been accomplishing over the past six weeks or so. Do I try? Go for it and risk failing and beating myself up or bingeing because I feel bad? Hmmm.
Okay, here's the game plan. I'm going to meet myself in the middle. To lose that 4.3 lbs, strictly by the numbers I'd need 1000 calorie deficit. Last week I averaged about 600 / day, so rather than aim for the full difference, I'm going to aim for -800 each day.
Today's Goal
Under 1635 calories, walk or body weight training at lunch.
Yesterday
Under Calorie Goal? YES
Under Maintenance Goal? YES
Exercised? Yes, walked the levee.
