Good for you in being honest and making getting healthier a family thing. I also started by just writing down everything that I ate, though I also calculated how many calories were in everything. Maybe that's something that you and your daughter can start doing together. Food journaling got me to stop and think about portion sizes and whether I truly wanted to eat something since I'd need to write it down. I noticed patterns after a while, like I'd be super hungry by 9:00 AM if I only had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Once I changed to a more protein & veggie heavy breakfast, I've been better balanced through the whole day.
