One of my friends sent me this photo of the beagle.  Part of the picture is cut off, but it says every meal you bake, every bite you take, I'll be watching you.  Dogs really do, at least ours do.  They sit there and stare at you while you eat.  Are they diet sentinels?  Can we train them to start barking if we eat something we shouldn't?

So, it's easy to know that this is day 6 since we started on the 1st.

So much in our lives revolve around food.  Okay, so if we are a fat person people don't want to see us eating and WE don't want people to see us eating, but hey you KNOW we were eating (the wrong foods) or we wouldn't be fat, right?  Eating is an essential process in our lives, something we simply can't do without.  So, why do some of us have more problems with it than others?  And, why do you watch shows on tv like 600 pound life or whatever and the commercials involve ice cream or fast food places?  There is something wrong with our society.

So, the advertisers tell you that you SHOULD go to a fast food place and it will make you happy, they want you to think it makes you happy when in truth we are the fattest nation in the world.  Sugar and salt and fat makes for pleasurable food.  WHY?  It's not like we are having to store fat for the famine part of the year.  And, why are the "good" things so much more expensive than the "bad".  Fruits and vegetables are expensive, fast food is not generally.  We just really have a mixed up mess here.  So, MAYBE the government (since they are involved in everything anyway) should start charging a "fat" tax on fattening food (especially fast food that is high in calories and Lord do we need 50 kinds of cereal loaded with sugar?) and use that money to reduce the prices of "good" food like fruits and veggies.  Use the tax as a subsidy to encourage food manufacturers to start producing more food with more vitamins, minerals and less calories.  (And, MAYBE that would allow us to get rid of some of these pharmaceuticals also!)

Okay, off my soap box.  Onto Day 6.  Time to eat breakfast and have the dogs staring...D.
