I started Whole 30 again this past weekend. I am on day 5. Started with shopping on Saturday, had some wine that evening (said good bye), and cooked my first spinach/bacon quiche Sunday morning. This time, I signed up for the "Realplan" menu and shopping platform. WOW, what a game changer. No longer was I just eating off a "no eat/only eat" list. This enabled me to build a menu and shopping list. It was a bit crazy walking down the aisles buying $150 worth of fresh food for a week. However, the cooking process (many, many dirty dishes) was well worth the effort. I realized a couple of things;
1. I was spending alot of time in the kitchen
2. I was touching my food, handling it, cleaning, preparing, and cooking it
3. I was engaged with what I was eating and I did not rush anything
4. This is work. Serious work.
Now I understand how the packaged food industry has found it's way into our lives. They make it "easy". It's not, and that is the thing I need to take from here on out. Consider shopping and preparing and cooking and eating, a chore - forever.
