running can be defined by the stress on the joints or the percentage of hardest. I believe its defined typically as the fore-runner. running means anytime you have just one leg on the ground before the other leg reaches the ground. (jogging is running at a slow pace)

looking up the biomechanics of running may give you better insight into how to run specifically and findings with that. I still think its defined as once one foot is on the ground at a time is a run, to jog is to run at a slow pace) your only walking if both feet are on the ground at the same time. (except of course when striding forward).
For example in a walk: when you are in your stride (legs are long) both legs are on the ground. It is not until you pick up the back foot that one leg is on the ground (this is not running because your front leg is still straight).
