About a year ago - I was 2.3 pounds away from losing 75lbs! At about that same time, I started a new job that turned out to be significantly more demanding than I expected (and did not have a gym in the building that I could use at lunch). I put on TWENTY pounds this year. So after all of my hard work, I had a serious backslide. I thought that this challenge would be a fun way for me to get back on track. I am intensely competitive and love to strive toward a goal. I have never journaled, blogged or worked as a team to lose weight, so I am really excited to see how using a forum like this might keep me motivated!

Writing down what I've accomplished, especially when I struggled to stay on track, helps me feel good about my own decisions and keeps me going. Having someone acknowledge the fact that I struggled and managed to work through it, also boosts my ego to maintain my goals. That, and I can look back and see what I've done, how I felt, and how I tackled issues in the past. It's like using the Journal to compete with yourself.
