I have to lose 4 lbs in 8 days. While this doesn't seem like a big hurdle to some of you amazing DietBetters, this is a big deal for me at this point. I have been struggling for last three weeks to end up only losing one pound and feel like I'm hovering, even though I've been active and been watching my diet. So I'm switching gears... because it's fun to try something new. I hope to use that fascination and interest to get over this hump. Slump, I should say.
I've always wanted to do this, too! (Pausing for effect...)
Starting tomorrow I'm going to do a juice diet for 8 days, 3 days of coming off of fast, 10 days of 75% raw food diet, then 21 days of vegetarian meals. That will bring me to Thanksgiving dinner, when I don't expect to hold myself back from anything. :-)
I'm going to do this because I read about how juice diet forces the body to use stored up energy content in the body such as the residual food you often have in the body, stored energy in the liver, and then getting to use up some of the fat I have. I'm not planning on cutting back on physical/mental activity, so I'll have to be careful to see how this affects me.
However, I'm serious about the DietBets I have going, so I need to be super careful about planning in advance to make this happen. To explain, I cook for my family, usually. My husband is splits house duties pretty evenly with me, but he isn't thinking about grocery shopping or cooking. That's ok because I love to cook. This new diet will force me to juggle a little more.
My two toddlers go to daycare 5 days a week, so I make breakfast and pack their lunches. Mine, too. At least my husband gets fed at work, thank goodness. Anyhow, juicing would definitely throw another jumble into the mix, and trying to remember which ingredients were planned for which meal, for whom... etc. (I hate catering to everyone's whim, but I'm a wimp. My kids have different food tastes.)
But I'll try it.
Next thing for me to do: grocery shopping!
