Okay fam, I have a serious food question.

What is your favorite cheese?

I worked for a Fromagier (cheese monger) back in the day and developed an insane love for all things cheese. I would often eat a pound of cheese in one shift, just in samples alone.

I no longer have unfettered access to delicious cheese and find it expensive in this country but if it was accessible I would eat Epoisses (a stinky rind gooey cheese) and a Cabrales (tangy Spanish blue cheese every day.

I love cheese. It is definitely my weakness (or one of the top 2 depending on the day cookies might beat it haha). I havent had the opportunities to try many different cheese because of the cost but I do prefer something with more of a bite to it like an old or extra old cheddar vs a mild or mozza. Feta is also really good I think it's the main reason I really love greek salad haha.

I love all things cheesy. But for healthy eating I find I can limit my cheese and eat healthier if I use a small amount of highly flavorful cheeses like bleu or parmigiana.

  • Just wanted to share what I ate with my broccoli today. I have a hard time eating raw broccoli by itself but ranch has soooooo many empty calories. I realised I can mix cottage cheese and herb and garlic cream cheese together for something to dip into and it's actually LESS calories and has the bonus of having protein!! So just in case you want to try it there is an idea for you :-) I'll add it as if it was my supper and post a picture so you can see the break down better.

Crowdsourcing some info: what food tracking app do you love?
My subscription for myfitnesspal is up in March and I'm honestly dissatisfied. I cook most of my food from scratch and I have a scale bc it's a far more accurate measure than volume. I'm frustrated basically every time I use the app bc the foods I'm eating are only available to track by volume, and quite frankly, if I'm paying to use this calorie counter, why do I have to do 75% of the math to convert between metrics? There are not clear guidelines of whether an item is cooked or raw (which changes the weight), and I often search for a whole food and only offered options of processed foods to track. It's as if the app isn't designed for you to track food you make but rather food you buy, just scan the barcode and go.
Recommendations for apps with a solid, varied, accurate database of items available to track by weight are much appreciated!

Carbon Diet coach app is great for tracking and really good for recipes! Also gives you extra accountability of a check-in of your compliance and will calculate macros based on your progress for you! It's Layne Norton's app, so backed by really good science

My fitness pal does let you change the measurements. I use the free version and still have this feature! It is sometimes a bit odd (like you might have to tell it that one serving size is one gram, and then say that you had 52 servings of something), but it still works! I only discovered this feature this year, prior to that I was often frustrated just like you!

I think I'm going to join some of those member only games.
Has anyone joined the 6% in 3 months or 4% in 8 weeks ones? I'm wondering if they work like the transformer where they have rounds each month. Like if the 6% in 3 months is actually 3% a month for first 2 months and then maintain? Or are they all just like kickstarters where you just weigh in and then have to have it gone by the end? I emailed them but they only answered me about the flex kickstarter lol anyone in any of them or done them before?
I need a little extra motivation but not quite a regular kickstarter or transformer and seen as I got the membership with this game it sounds like I can join them.
There is a flex kickstarter starting tomorrow I might join that is like a kickstarter but you get 6 weeks instead and the full pot gets split instead of the fees.

I’m about to finish a flex Kickstarter, which is basically a regular Kickstarter but with a 2 week weigh in window instead of 2 days. I haven’t tried the other types, so I’m not sure about them.

If I am not a paid member, does the app open the window for sending the official monthly weigh in before the 1st 2 days of the month?, if it does, shouldn’t it change so that I can only get a key word during the 1st 2 days of each month? Otherwise I believe I could easily make the mistake of sending my monthly weigh in on the 31st and think it is enough cuz I was given a key word.

As a non member I have access to submit an “unofficial” weight at any time.

For the monthly weigh ins, a button appears for an official weigh in at 12am Pacific on the 1st and is available for only a limited time (between 24-48hrs, depending on the game). The official weigh in requests photos and the special word.

I’m asking cuz I saw a non member writing about how he got a key word on the 30th, so he assumed the window for sending his official monthly weigh in was already opened, and then he failed to send again the weigh in on the 1st or 2nd, which made him lose the 1st round and he seemed to be quite bothered about it, which I understand if his mistake was triggered by a glitch on the app.

  • Made a cheese burger salad for dinner last night. Sounds weird, but it was really good, very light on calories and completely filling. I grilled a Turkey burger, added a slice of American cheese. Cut it into bite size pieces and put it on top of a bed of romain lettuce, a little baby spinach, thin sliced onion, and chopped hamburger dill pickles. I drizzled it with ketchup and mustard for the “dressing”. I will definitely have this again.

Five Guys will serve their burgers in lettuce wraps instead of on buns if you ask. But it ends up like what you describe, so get a fork with the order!

@Crystal you don't have to hit round 5 to win round 6. You can lose round 5 but still win the jackpot as long as you have lost at least 6% and do the mandatory weigh in. Just don't want you stressing about that ;-) if you are a few pounds off from round 5 goal don't give up round 6 is where it really counts!

How does the math work with the payout? There is $3,612 that isn’t being paid out. Where does that money go? I know there are fees but didn’t think it would be 25%?

What are you going to do to stay motivated? Did you join any other challenges? Or you just working towards round 3 goal?
I'm also ahead and having a hard time staying motivated. I've basically used this whole last week as a cheat week. Considering I want to lose weight despite whatever goals diet bet sets and obviously the sooner it comes off the better I have lost focus and motivation to reach my personal goals because I am ahead in the diet bet goals if that makes sense. Wondering if you are the same or what you have done differently to change your frame of mine or rechallenge yourself

  • This is what I don’t get and what is so disappointing about diet bet these days...in another transformer challenge I was in 07/20-01/21 this was the first round winnings. It’s higher with a dramatically smaller pot, but still about the same percentage of winners, there were somewhere over 700 people participating. They clearly took a smaller cut than they did now...

Your payout was probably higher then because it was a game that started in July. My husband did a transformer through the same timeline last year and his january pay out was still only $18 as well. There are a lot more people that are extra motivated in January and also have a little more bloat from Christmas goodies. Therefore there are a lot more people winning in January. It gets harder as it goes so the pay out is usually higher as it goes. Most of the payout is in the last month so basically just make sure you win the last month.
As long as you keep meeting your goals you will always at least get your money back. It was warned several times before payout by multiple people and including the host about that this rounds pay out would likely not be very high.... but we got our money back and we lost weight so free motivation and weight loss is still nice to me. I don't want to pay into a bunch of things I likely won't stick to and wouldn't get money back from... but I will work hard to get my money back.
