Be careful with nuts and fruits. Nuts are calorie dense and can contain high levels of fats. Fats are fats whether they're considered healthy or not so you want to make sure you're eating enough for health purposes but not sliding into too much.:wink:
Same with fruits because they can contain a lot of sugar. Especially if you're not eating the fiber rich part of a fruit. Ive been recommended to eat a small protein with my fruit so there's always a protein and fiber.

It's worked for me so far.

Edmame from Costco is frozen and comes in prepackaged serving sizes that are easy to heat and eat on the go. Includes protein, fiber, and a small amount of healthy fat. Bam! Excellent snack.

Also, air-popped popcorn, complete snack. Yum.

  • When it comes to sweets and treats, do you cut back or cut out when you are actively trying to lose weight? For me its easier not to take the first bite. However some people are able to satisfy their sweet tooth with small amounts of treats, like a square of dark chocolate. Which side do you fall on. In the long run a healthy lifestyle is easier to maintain if you practice moderation instead of deprivation. So what is your strategy?

Recently, I do calories in, calories out. So if I can fit a treat in my calories for the day AND hit my macros, I do that. :laughing: It worked awesome on my birthday. I just wanted ice cream so I included it.

But on a more lifelong basis, I've been saying this for years...

Say no once at the grocery store and then you won't have to say no everyday of your life.

So I'd rather do that.
