You have a good outlook on what you want to do. Don't feel rushed to get into shape and don't feel that turning 40 is something to dread. I'm 47 but I can relate: I felt exactly the same way when I turned 30. Take it one step at a time. We're here to help if you need it. I'm just very happy that you put your eating disorder and its associated side-effects behind you. That alone is one big victory!
