So, you know when you just auto-log food and don't think but also wonder why you feel like warm, summer trash while also losing weight so you don't question it too deeply?

Well, when you accidentally add a 0 to lettuce - 500 calories instead of 50 for the day, for a week. On top of a 500 calorie deficit ON TOP OF 300-400 CALORIE WORKOUTS, your body will fight back.

Yeah, I did that. I have been so busy and tired (my husband comes back from working on the water by the 10th and I'm in the 'hanging on' stage while also wrapping up homeschool for Christmas, crocheting a shawl for my youngest, another for his drama club, baking cream puffs for Christmas and a birthday cake for Jesus...Im tired just planninf. Did I mention both my vacuum and washer needed troubleshooting today and I'm taking an hour daily to go to the rink so my kids can skate?

I had some ice cream, a few candies and an apple and instantly felt alive again. I've been in the "so hungry, my pillow looks like a marshmallow so I liked it" phase for too long. That was a dumb mistake but I need to continue to prioritize myself, and apparently, double check my math more.

6 days left and I'm below where I need to be. Woot woot! I was a bit worried because the scale hasn't budged for a week except to shift up a bit but that's the once a month normal for me.

I'm now down 45lbs in all!!

I didn't think much of that number until I realized as I was filling up the pellet stove that a bag of pellets is 40lbs - and those things are heavy...plus another 5lbs! I've still got a ways to go before I'm back at goal weight but everything fits better, feels better and my reward to myself is a night away with my husband when he gets home from out of province work. My mom is taking the kids so we get a day to go Christmas stocking shopping and a night away!

Plus, I'll have some dietbet winnings to spend on some new leggings!

  • Tweaked a salad to add some turkey. Still having a problem with portion control so I have to weigh everything.

Portion control is something most people struggle with - a lot of us don't realize it though. I was reading that most folks underestimate calories. The scale is such a great tool to see what a portion is.

Avocado gets me every time :joy:

Gina yes South Texas actually.

Samantha - I love avocado and could eat several so that I have to watch

Breathe in, breathe out.

This weekend has been absolutely wild. In our community, a little 3-year old is out of province getting cancer treatments at a fantastic children's hospital. Our little island rallied around and have raised over 13,000$ for the family so far. While medical care is covered under our Medicare system, travel and living expenses while away aren't.

My church gave me their blessing to run a Taco Supper fundraiser. I was on my feet on a cement floor from 11am-7:30 yesterday. My group of volunteers (miracle workers) came in at 3pm and they brought this together.

100 people served, 2000$ raised.

I was so busy all day, I genuinely can't remember if I ate. I know there was a LOT of coffee and not enough water. Today is a rest and recouperate day. Sauna, stretching, lots of water and nourishing food.

Somehow, with all the stress and anxiety I placed on myself, I still lost another lb meaning I hit my goal early and am on track to continue making healthy choices and being more physically able! T do amazing things!

  • I was thinking that snacks are my hardest so I made up 7 different snack packs for the week. Now a Heather version is just as easy to grab as my hubby’s ice cream bars.

  • Ok I’m feeling what I expected: the 2nd week get harder. First week my inner cheerleader was gung ho. I’ve played this game many times years ago and recall my commitment does get challenged as the weeks progress so I’m ready. Let those thoughts go and stick to my meals and track my bites. Let’s stay strong everybody.

I've heard folks say "willpower" but sole willpower alone is planning to fail. You're doing amazing setting up those plans and following through so when determination wobbles, you've got a plan!

I've found a bowl of orange and lemon slices in my fridge to turn into a citrus tea in the evening is one of my plans to succeed. Its COLD here and I get munchy so hot caffeine free tea made with orange, lemon lime and the accidental grapefruit ? works!

Love the reminder - weight loss isn't a straight line. Its supposed to plateau, change and sometimes increase for a bit (inflammation after a hard workout - blah).

All the best to you! Great job!

Deb W.

I agree thus week has been harder than the first. The best thing is we didn’t give up. Maybe we faltered but we didn’t give up!! :tada::muscle:

I set my long workout for the day before my sauna and cold plunge appointments! I generally am exhausted after working out (it's one more thing to do right now more than specific time for myself but that's okay).

Sauna is my me time to rest, recoup even more and take an hour to do absolutely nothing but sit in silence!

This week is a lot different. I'm running a fundraiser for a little boy diagnosed with cancer. Ill be doing my workout hefting 50lbs of meat to make tacos and running around setting up tables. Honestly, this is what I workout for - functional mobility! Love it!

DietBet Gina

It was a "rest" day for me so just walked on the treadmill for a little bit

Week one was all highs and lows. Personal best this year for walking distance (recovering from a moderate sprain that resulted in minimal mobility for months), then a hospital trip for a UTI.

Thankfully, we have an amazing hospital on our tiny island and a tele-doc program. In and out in under 30 minutes.

Got a couple yoga videos in with my incredibly flexible child who yells at the TV with me. Gentle stretch, my behind. We may have ended up giggling more than working out but he's 9 - absolutely delightful memories.

I'm using a diet customized to me and have dropped another 4lbs this week meaning I'm down 38.8lbs in all! Now to start another day of homeschool and getting ready for my husband to fly out to work for 3 weeks. Ups and downs - I've got this.

Love hearing this. I appreciate the community, however far flung and for brief time, we gather together in our recommitment to better health habits.
