So how did I do last week? Pretty good for exercise; Fitbit says my daily average for the last seven days was 4.82 miles/11,058 steps. I set a goal of 11,000 steps, and made it 5 out of 7 days (Thursday, other commitments interfered, Saturday just Too. Darn. Hot.).

Not so good for calories; LoseIt says I was 1,715 calories over my weekly budget. That’s like an extra day of eating! Gee, maybe that’s why the scale didn’t move down.

I know what I need to do; knock off with the evening alcohol. Maybe I will try something my brother-in-law does -- soda water with a dash of bitters for flavor. I can stir it with a swizzle stick and feel all sophisticated.

Just looked it up and found:

Bitters are generally 35% to 45% alcohol, but using them in moderation like this means that the resulting drink is quite low in alcohol. I did some rough calculations, and a drink with a teaspoon of bitters has probably about as much alcohol as 1/10th of a glass of wine. -- from http://www.thekitchn.com/soda-with-bitters-simple-refre-125082
