I think that you have two good strategies in place to deal with your particular craving: 1) waiting to enjoy the "real thing" once in a while, and 2) making your own portion-controlled, healthier version in the meantime. I love them too and do something similar sometimes with baked chips, but for me it is always a struggle to have my homemade version in a portion-controlled manner!
