I have a confession to make... I hate to 'work out'.

Going to the gym makes me feel like a hamster on a wheel.  However, I LOVE to play.  I am a weekend warrior.  I moolight as a kayak and pabbleboard tour guide every Sunday and usually spend Saturday "practicing".  I never have a problem burning calories on the weekends.  It's during the week that is a problem for me.  I have an office job and I am strapped to a desk at work all week.  Staying active during the week is a real challenge.

This deit bet is a tool for me to get motivated to get back in shape after a couple inactive months.  I had a few minor surgeries that required I stay out of the water and take it easy.  I want to jump right back into my weekend tours but need to lose my recovery weight and strengthen up.  While tours are FUN they are also a lot of work. I have anywhere from 6 to 20 pieces of equipment (weighing 27 to 70 lbs) to lug around and lots of mad paddeling to do between.

The plan:

1. Plan for bad weather! Ugg... the gym.  I have a great book downloaded on my phone to listen to at the gym if I need to go.  I have been known to double the time I spend on cardio if I'm in a really good part.

2. At least once a week use the Harbor Walk.  We have this great sidewalk that follows the waterfront and winds through a few parks.  My oldest daughter (23) and I have turned it into a fitness walk.  Planks at the gazebo, 10 trips up and down the stairs at the marina, dips at the 2nd bench, etc....

3. Take the puppies for a run.  The girls have not been getting enough exercise! At least once a week I will get on my bike and take them out to run the trails.

4.  I am going to do the 30 day core challenge.  I need to make it a contest with myself though, so I can stick with it.  If I complete at least 28 of the 30 days, I will buy myself a new date night outfit.

I hope that this blog tool will help me stay on track.  The process of writing my goals down really helps me to focus on my plans and make them a little more official.  I feel like I have to stick to them because I've shared them.  =)
