I'll be praying for you. I do this sometimes. For example, when my kids had a bucket of Halloween candy I messed up. I had eaten dinner and thought, I'm full... but I'll have just 1. Then I thought, just 2 more, then 5 more then 6 on top of that. Ugh. I seriously lost track of how many mini candy bars I'd eaten but am positive that I ate more calories in chocolate than I had in regular food the entire day.
I don't know what the magic trick is for me yet other than to drink lots of water before I start eating anything (because I've found that when I'm dehydrated, I'm much more likely to go crazy) and before I take the first bite of anything, I ask myself am I eating because I'm hungry, bored, sad... I just try to recognize the emotion behind it. I'm trying to only eat if the emotion is hunger now. Finally, I have started measuring out the portion and plugging it into MFP before I start eating. I put the package away before I sit down to eat. That's all I've learned so far.
