If you read the title and became interested enough to read this blog post, welcome!
My name is Brandon, I am an elite amateur cyclist living in Colorado. I race with professionals, but I am not considered a pro quite yet (I don't get paid), but getting to race for free and travel for free is great too!
Heres MY description of Pro Cycling to those who don't know:
- Race road bikes weighing in around 15lbs
- race distances vary between 60 minute fast circuit races to 6 hour 120+ mile road races
- we train as much as a normal person would work a part time job, but require full time to recover and perform at our best (15-25+ HRS a week of training ON A BIKE)
- we shave our legs :) Its just tradition, don't ask
- we wear tight clothes
- we look super skinny
- we are "endurance" athletes... I can ride my bike for hours at a time, (just got back from a 4 hour training ride)
- we crash a lot, (I crashed 8 times this season, broke my elbow in july)
- We eat whatever we want BUT..........
- sometimes we shouldn't eat everything because the lighter you are, the fast youll be able to ride your bike up a mountain.
The last fact is why I use Dietbet
I used dietbet back in February to help motivate me to lose some extra weight that i had been struggling to keep off. It was the perfect thing for me, being a college student, i knew I needed my 100 dollar bet back or i'd be short on healthy grocery shopping the next month, so i stuck to a healthy diet and finally got down to a weight that I can say I am happy with.
I am 6'1 and currently around 160lbs, my race weight is between 145-150lbs.
I have been telling myself that I will stick to my diet and not cheat on unhealthy foods, but I've been recently struggling with cheating on my diet. NOW is the time for a cyclist to start slowly loosing weight, for me its going the opposite direction. I have gained weight since i broke my elbow, its been a slow weight gain, but i need it to stop or else it will be too hard for me to lose the weight before my season starts.
Dietbet is the perfect way to motivate me to stick to my diet, and not cheat! I know I can loose a ton of weight this month as I'll start riding a lot more to prepare for next season. I just need to be sure I can stick with it.
Its day 0, and im having the night of my dieting life! Im doing one final "HOORAH", pizza, cheeseburgers, cookies.. whatever i can get my hands on, I'm eating!
Starting tomorrow on DAY 1, I am strict paleo, and all of you are here to listen to me when i say, "I WILL NOT CHEAT FOR 30 DAYS!" I know I can do it, I know YOU can do it too!
I will weigh in in the morning.
I'm glad to be playing this game with all of you, i hope im not an exception with all of the exercise im doing, but I hate when I gain weight, and it will come off
hope you enjoyed this blog post
Stay tuned for my report on DAY 1 tomorrow night. It'll be more brief....
