Last week I talked about how I am going to do my best to change my attitude toward weight loss. My weight loss is usually goes something like, "One step forward, two steps back." But this time, if when I have a slip, I won't beat myself up. I shared a story about how when I was in my early 20's a wise old coot told me "That it is never too late to start your day over." Well, I am up 2 lbs from last week and ordinarily I would get frustrated, say few choice expletives, and throw in the towel. Well, the truth is, I went to the Adirondacks for the weekend and had a great time--with food and adult beverages. So why would I expect to have a great weight loss? Granted, I only had four drinks the whole 3 days, but they weren't exactly low calorie (frozen margaritas and a pina coloda). There was also plenty to eat.

Last week I shared that my fitness is so poor that god forbid in the event of a bear, alien, or zombie attack, that I would be hard pressed to outrun any of them and would surely be subject to being torn to shreds, probed, or turned into a zombie. We did have an encounter with a bear (mama and three babies) this weekend and I survived. I just hope I get some more fitness before aliens or zombies make a run!

On the plus side, I got a lot of physical activity it. On Saturday, I walked more than 10,000 steps and kayaked for more than two hours. Despite the not so great decisions on beverages and sodium intake (chips), I did make a gigantic step in ordering a baby ice cream cone. I think I mentioned in my last blog, that I love ice cream and have been known to string together multiple, as in 6 or 7 consecutive days of eating ice cream--and not the baby cones.

I woke up this morning in my own bed determined not to let the weekend derail me, eventhough I now only have 22 days to lose 12.6 lbs. I looked out the window to yet another downpour so I brought my bike inside and set up my trainer in front of the television. My current fitness level sucks, and it took me 45 minutes to complete the 30 minute beginner spinning Gymbox video workout on Amazon Instant Video. I almost gave up, figuring spinning for 20 minutes would be good and I could set a goal to finish it tomorrow. But I decided to take a breather and finish it up. I am glad I did. #bearsalienszombiescansuckit

Food wise, I made myself a protein shake (297 calories) and will do turkey & cheese roll ups and carrots for lunch. Chicken and brocolli for dinner.

So yeah, I had a step back, but I am taking two steps forward!
